Baltimore Crisis Response, Inc. is a nonprofit comprehensive crisis care center helping individuals overcome mental health and substance use disorders in Baltimore, Maryland. BCRI is committed to individualized treatment that serves the needs of Baltimoreans while fostering community and inspiring hope and compassion for all. By pairing licensed social workers with police officers in a co-responder's model, BCRI is improving safety outcomes for both officers and civilians.

Be A Mentor

Be A Mentor partners closely with local schools to match children from low-income neighborhoods with an adult mentor who can help them achieve their full potential. Be A Mentor provides mentors with a variety of ways to engage and build true relationship with young people, helping the children increase their knowledge, abilities, and confidence. By rejecting the “high-risk” label so often placed on these young people, Be A Mentor firmly believes that these same children are in fact  “on the brink of success” and possess great potential.

Benevolence Farm

Benevolence Farm provides transitional housing and sustainable farming employment to women leaving the North Carolina prison system. Participants are given trust, time, space, and guidance to take their lives in a new direction and become self-sufficient. As one of the only rural programs for formerly incarcerated women, Benevolence Farm hopes to redefine the reentry experience and help small communities thrive.

Big Table exists to see the lives of those working in the restaurant and hospitality industry transformed by building community and caring for those who are in crisis, in transition, or falling through the cracks. The organization operates a referral-based assistance program to provide care to individuals in need. Big Table works with care recipients to address immediate crises, then remains in an ongoing relationship to further support them on their journey to stability and self-sufficiency.

They help families break the cycles of debt by addressing food insecurity and equipping them with financial education for long-term stability, all while building a community of support and encouragement.

Black Men Heal

KEY ISSUE AREA

Health Care

Black Men Heal provides complimentary therapy sessions to Black and Brown men seeking mental health care. Minority men are especially susceptible to mental health conditions yet face a variety of barriers that prevent them from receiving needed care. Black Men Heal helps these individuals overcome these barriers, matches them with Black and Brown mental health clinicians, and encourages the men to openly share their mental health experiences with their peers. This serves to destigmatize the topic of mental health, paving the way for more men in the community to seek care and find their own healing.
