Aloe Blacc's 'Stand Together' Album

Grammy-nominated, multi-platinum artist Aloe Blacc performed “One Good Thing,” a single from his new album, Stand Together, on ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” on February 27, one day before the album’s release. The album was inspired by Blacc’s work with the philanthropic community Stand Together and some of its nonprofit partners.

A long-time Stand Together partner, Blacc was driven to connect with changemakers and social entrepreneurs after the death of his collaborator Tim Bergling, known as Avicii, who had struggled with addiction. Blacc wanted to find people who were not just talking about substance use, the need for justice reform, and other issues, but understood these matters and were solving them through creative, innovative work in their communities.

The album highlights how these changemakers transform society from the bottom up. The single “One Good Thing” opens with the lines, “What does it take to move a mountain that no one wants to climb? When they tell you there’s no answer, how do you change the heart and mind?” By pairing songs on Stand Together with a philanthropic cause that has inspired him, Blacc demonstrates how social entrepreneurs are working within their communities to transform lives by solving society’s greatest problems. The nonprofit organizations featured on Stand Together include Café Momentum, The Phoenix,  Bonton Farms, and Breakthrough.
