AFP drives income tax elimination at Missouri town hall.
West of St. Louis, the team gave residents a forum to press lawmakers on one of the state’s most critical amendments on the ballot.
Amendment 5 will appear on Missouri’s August 4 ballot. If passed, it would require a revenue-based phaseout of the individual income tax and authorize changes to sales and use taxes.
At Americans for Prosperity’s town hall to discuss the Income Tax Elimination and Sales Tax Changes Amendment, residents submitted questions on school funding, retirees, property taxes, sales taxes, and constitutional protections.

What made this amendment possible? AFP led a major campaign leading up to the vote in the state legislature to include the income tax elimination amendment on the ballot.
The effort included tele-townhalls, livestreams, coalition partnerships, conservative media amplification, and public Q&A sessions across Missouri.
And it worked. After helping drive lawmakers to pass the legislation, activists are now persuading voters to pass the amendment. Below, you can see a group of those activists.
The team took the message into neighborhoods, carrying ballot literature — including “Vote Yes on 5” materials — and giving voters another chance to ask questions at their doors.

AFP knows policy wins require more than a legislative vote. They require permanent grassroots pressure that continues after the event, the session, and even the election.
Its team is working to lower income and property taxes all over the country.
- In Texas, AFP has partnered with Gov. Greg Abbott to reform property taxes.
- In North Carolina, the team is celebrating the first comprehensive state budget passed since 2023, which will lower individual income taxes.
- In Illinois, AFP’s team is mobilizing constituents behind property tax relief.
AFP is connecting policy expertise, trusted messengers, and grassroots activists — building the durable reform engine Missouri needs for August and beyond.
