AFP commemorates the first public reading of the Declaration of Independence.
Lawmakers, influencers, and Americans for Prosperity activists gathered in Philadelphia to celebrate the anniversary of the historic moment.
Fewer Americans can explain the founding principles on which their freedoms depend, a crucial gap that leaves those liberties more vulnerable to erosion.
That’s why AFP’s team commemorated the first public reading of the Declaration of Independence with a reading of their own on the 250th anniversary.
The celebration empowered everyday Americans to articulate our nation’s founding principles.
Emily Brey, state director of AFP–Pennsylvania, spoke at the reading as pictured below, stressing the importance of young activists engaging their communities across the Keystone State.
“We’re all called to take our first step. Sometimes it’s grand and historic, and sometimes it’s ordinary. For some of you, that may be knocking on your first door.”
That’s what Emily had to say about how the next generation can take these values and put them into action.
The reading gave activists the opportunity to learn from today’s leaders who are defending America’s founding values, like U.S. Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins, Fox News host Lara Trump, U.S. Senate Majority Whip John Barrasso, and National Review Senior Political Correspondent Jim Geraghty.
You can see Geraghty below as he emphasized the importance of preserving the values that have made America great to safeguard against tyranny and government overreach.
The celebration was part of AFP’s “One Small Step” initiative, focused on ideals like freedom, opportunity, and the rule of law.
This isn’t just about reading historical documents — it’s about how those ideals translate into actionable public policy and educating activists across the country.
Inspired by these ideals, AFP activists have amassed a massive grassroots army advocating nationwide for policies that will protect our freedoms.
