LOS ANGELES, CA (February 29, 2024) – Stargate’s Los Angeles Academy for Artists and Music Production (LAAMP) has announced Stand Together as “Presenting Partner” alongside program founders, Grammy award-winning writers and producers Mikkel Eriksen and Tor Hermansen of Stargate. Stand Together, a philanthropic community that tackles the root causes of the country’s biggest problems, is partnering to help LAAMP scale their successful hands-on approach to music education.

Based in Santa Monica, CA, LAAMP is a groundbreaking program for artists, producers, and songwriters, offering a one-year, hands-on intensive bootcamp—that covers everything from songwriting and music production to marketing, live performance, and music business essentials—as an alternative to traditional four-year higher-education music programs. At LAAMP, participants receive hands-on mentorship and guidance from world class music industry leaders, including Stargate producers Tor Hermannsen and Mikkel Eriksen. Mentorship has included guests such as singer-songwriter Ne-Yo, Diplo, and producer Benny Blanco – among others.

In just two years, LAAMP has seen remarkable success, with numerous students making significant strides in the music industry: 17 LAAMP students have been signed to management, 50 alumni artists, writers, and producers are actively working in the music industry, and songs created at LAAMP and released have racked up 9.7 million streams on Spotify. LAAMP alumni NERIAH has 1.1M monthly listeners on Spotify.

“Our vision for LAAMP has always been about preparing the next generation of artists for real-world success through hands-on experience and mentorship,” said Mikkel Eriksen and Tor Hermansen, co-founders of LAAMP and Stargate. “With Stand Together’s partnership and increased commitment to our mission and approach, we believe we can expand our reach exponentially and help more young talent achieve their dreams in the music industry.”

To date, Stand Together has supported LAAMP in developing live streaming and community building capabilities and enhancing their mobile and web platforms. This technological advancement expanded LAAMP’s reach from 50 students at their flagship location in Santa Monica to hundreds worldwide.

This enhanced partnership will significantly expand LAAMP’s reach by advancing their mobile app, website, and content development capabilities. The investment aims to revolutionize their asynchronous platform and content creation, extending access to millions of musicians worldwide. Furthermore, they will establish an ever-active community and networking feature for LAAMP students and mentors. This will streamline collaboration among students, alumni, and industry professionals, fostering a dynamic and continuous exchange of ideas and expertise. As the result of this investment, LAAMP anticipates 100x growth year over year.

Stand Together aims to help the program continue to transform music education, turning it into a benchmark for artist development. This new model challenges conventional, financially demanding four-year programs which often focus on theory over practical application, foregoing the real-time feedback of the community already successfully working in music, and limit students’ ability to immediately test their learnings in the context of the industry’s realities.

“As the presenting partner of LAAMP, the Stand Together community is excited to help expand their innovative program, to enable more musicians achieve their dreams while having a positive impact with their artistic talents,” said Colette Weintraub, Head of Stand Together Music, Sports & Entertainment. “This partnership underscores our commitment to using music as a force for change by providing a platform for emerging artists to hone their craft, own their voice, and make their mark in the music industry and beyond.”
