Chef Pati Jinich partners with Stand Together to release recipe e-book

The new e-book celebrates the culinary contributions, stories, and life lessons of immigrants in this country.

ARLINGTON, VA – Today, Mexican Chef Pati Jinich and Stand Together released a new recipe e-book, ‘The Stories of Our Table.’

In the Fall of 2020, Pati partnered with Stand Together as part of the organization’s Common Ground initiative to conduct a recipe contest that spanned all 50 states asking people to share their favorite family recipes and the stories behind them. The contest was inspired by the idea that food has the power to connect people and bridge divides. The e-book showcases some of the recipes that celebrate the culinary contributions and life lessons of immigrants in America.

The recipe e-book is available to download for free here.

Pati Jinich said:

“A recipe can yield so much more than a delicious meal. It can be a way to remember. Some of our best memories are associated with the smell and taste of home-cooked food, and you can be transported back to these moments when you recreate the recipe in your own kitchen. Cooking is also a way to explore and to make new memories. Our hope for this cookbook is that it not only allows people an opportunity to explore recipes from other cultures, but it creates a greater appreciation for the people and places that created that recipe.”

Jorge Lima, Vice President of Immigration for Stand Together, said:

“We are thrilled to finally share this recipe e-book with the world in an attempt to highlight more of the amazing and unique contributions immigrants make in America. For many of us, a meal invites a time to connect and make memories. We hope that stories in this e-book will be a part of your next meal so you can explore someone else’s story and expand your perspective.”
