George W. Bush Presidential Center partners with Stand Together to host Common Ground Immigration Exhibit

This installation launches alongside President Bush’s book and exhibit “Out of Many, One: Portraits of America’s Immigrants.”

Dallas, TX – Today, Stand Together, a philanthropic community tackling some of the biggest challenges of our times, announced the launch of their Common Ground: Immigration Pop-Up Exhibit at the George W. Bush Presidential Center in Dallas, Texas. The installation’s unveiling is part of an exciting new partnership between Stand Together and the Bush Center as part of President Bush’s dedicated focus to highlight America’s rich heritage and outline a path forward to address the immigration challenges facing our country. The partnership is designed to help the nation come together to find common ground on this divisive issue and advance positive solutions to improve a dated immigration system.

The interactive installation offers an immersive experience that reveals some surprising truths behind this contentious topic. Despite the rhetoric in today’s political environment, over 75% of Americans believe that immigration is a good thing, and three in five Americans support a plan that provides citizenship for Dreamers. When Americans stand together on common ground, they can work to solve the biggest problems in our nation.

The Common Ground exhibit features a collection of unique stand-alone doors demonstrating the common ground Americans share on immigration through interactive video stories. When users open the multimedia doors, the exhibition takes them through a journey highlighting the interconnectedness between immigrants and non-immigrants.

This exhibit is launching alongside a new book and portrait exhibit by President George W. Bush, entitled OUT OF MANY, ONE: Portraits of America’s Immigrants. The exhibition featuring the President’s portraits and Stand Together’s Common Ground pop-up exhibit will be open to the public at the Bush Center in Dallas, Texas, starting Tuesday, April 20, 2021 through Januaury 2022.

Laura Collins, Director, Bush Institute-SMU Economic Growth Initiative
“Immigration signifies the exceptional success of our nation as the land of opportunity. When we welcome people who share our unwavering determination and optimism, we can remain a hopeful and prosperous society. We are excited to host the Common Ground: Immigration Pop-up Exhibit, with President Bush’s book and exhibit: Out of Many, One, to offer an inspiring experience that has the power to unify Americans on a path forward towards immigration reform.”

Jorge Lima, Vice President of Immigration for Stand Together
“Countless stories of immigration are intertwined in our nation’s rich history. Today, while our country may seem divided on this topic, the truth remains that Americans, regardless of political affiliation, share immense common ground on how to improve our immigration system. Through our exhibit, visitors will experience our shared values as a nation, all while seeing stories of how immigrants and non-immigrants have worked together throughout our history.”
