In a USA Today opinion piece published May 31, Stand Together CEO Brian Hooks and Urban Specialists Founder Omar Jahwar write that the murders of Ahmaud Arbery and George Floyd reflect “a double standard in our justice system.” Even though we’ve seen some progress towards justice reform, we must break down barriers across society — in education, communities, and business — to address these and many other deep-seated injustices. They conclude that “as long as anyone among us is treated as less than an equal part of our shared humanity, we all have much more to do.”
